A Summer Interning at Spirit Labels: Callum McLachlan

We recently had the pleasure of welcoming Callum, a former student at Glasgow Caledonian University, to the Spirit Labels team for a 12-week summer internship. Having started with us in May, he'll be finishing at the end of July.

Although Callum was studying Accounting, he decided to leave university to gain hands-on experience in the corporate world. His goal was to develop a deeper understanding of how a business operates, while building practical skills and learning from the data, processes, and relationships that drive Spirit Labels.

Before his internship comes to an end, we asked Callum to share his experience of working at Spirit Labels and reflect on what he's learned so far.

“My Favourite thing about working at Spirit Labels is that the work I was completing mattered to the company and will have an impact as they continue to grow”

Callum shares his key takeaways from working at Spirit Labels,

“Working in the Label and Print Industry has allowed me to gain a full understanding of how the products are made, handled and delivered. It was fascinating to see how each persons unique role contributes to taking the product to the desired outcome.”

Callum has been primarily working with the sales and marketing team, contributing to managing Spirit Labels CRM system, carrying out marketing research, as well as generating and nurturing leads.

“Working in the Label and Print Industry has allowed me to gain a full understanding of how the products are made, handled and delivered. It was fascinating to see how each persons unique role contributes to taking the product from concept to the desired outcome.”

Callum explains what he found most interesting working at Spirit Labels…

“ I get to see exactly how a contact progresses, from a potential lead within marketing, all the way to a customer with reoccurring orders- gaining an understanding how that lead is managed and how new leads are prioritised and nutured.”

When asked about his next steps and how he plans to use his experience at Spirit Labels moving forward in his career, Callum responded,

“I plan to use my experience… to help propel me further in my future career, now having a familiarity within a corporate setting I set out to use what I have learned with Spirit Labels to hit the ground running, wherever my future takes me.”

Luckily, we still have Callum for a few more weeks, so it’s not quite time to say our goodbyes just yet but it really has been a pleasure to have Callum onboard with us this summer. His contribution to the Sales and Marketing department has been nothing short of invaluable, which is something that can be agreed across the whole staff. Best of luck Callum, from the Spirit team.
